The Best Backcountry Skiing Routes in Granada

This is a flat, wide and long off piste line. It runs parallel to the wooden fence on the left of the Peñón Del Dílar piste. Either jump back onto the piste next to the half pipe or continue off piste for 200 metres more until you reach a path which leads (via a 25 minute walk) rightwards to the Mirlo Blanco restaurant....

Normally the Dilar chairlift is used to get out of the Laguna Valley, but there is also some really nice off piste skiing underneath it. It is wide and not very difficult (red level); just look as you go up the chairlift for the best way to go....

This run takes a parallel line to the Cartujo red slope near the bottom of the run. Beyond the division of Cartujo and Monaguillo red slopes continue on Cartujo, taking a high traverse off the run to the left, possibly with a small amount of walking....

This is accessed by traversing along the "circuito de esqui de fondo" . As soon as you are under the chairlift your line starts and it roughly stays beneath this lift throughout the descent....

This line links the "Fraile" and "Trucha" red pistes. It is generally fairly easy angled unless you take the optional cliff jump. If you do take the cliff at the highest point about 8m jump can be taken....

Unless there are rocks there won't be any issues here, however forget it in case of low snow cover as this will be more dangerous than anything else and this will ruin your equipment....

A nice area, often tracked quickly after fresh snowfall. It is well located as it is NE facing and this will help to keep the snow fresh into this part of the mountain....

Some 10-15 minutes hike is needed to access to the line from the top of "Emilio Reyes" or "Dilar" chairlifts. The line is not steep and can feel like a piste but there are some rocks about if there is low snow cover....

This is an easily accessed line with 10 minutes hiking needed after you turn left, 20 meters after red slope Cordón's junction with red slope Collado Alto. The line is not steep and can feel like a piste but there are a lot of rocks about if there is low snow cover and still a few with good snow cover....

Again an easily accessed line as from blue slope "Peñón del Dílar" turn right before the half pipe. The line is not steep and can feel like a piste but there are some rocks about if there is low snow cover....

This is an easily accessed line as it is really close the slopes- just turn left off the "Águila" red slope. The line is not steep and can feel like a piste but there are some rocks about if there is low snow cover....

This lovely area ofers many possibilities and your route choice will depend on how much effort you're willing to put in! Go down the first part of the Aguila or Tobogan pistes and drop off to the right to reach the Valley of San Juan....

Another original line before going back to the ski resort, this is a shortcut between black slopes. As the black slopes diverge go straight down. Some turns can be made and pretty clear of other skiers into the first part....

From the Gondolas or at the same height, easily cut from the slopes without any walk needed. The face is usually either wet or frozen due to the huge quantity of sun it receives....

Access is easy just before the junction of the red slopes "Trucha" and "Collado de la Laguna", Turn right about 20m before this junction. Initially you go down and R, then more down the fall line, with the odd optional small rocks to jump off....

At the top of the "Laguna" chairlift, we will need to follow the red slope "Olimipica", before turning right on the red slope "Lagunillos". Keep your speed and as the red slope goes diagonally down left you go right, gently down then flat, heading for a flat peak ahead of you, with some poling or side stepping....

There is easy access to this line from the top of the lift- no walking is required. Just follow the black slope, our line is not too steep, probably even less than the piste....

This line starts just after the junction of the Rebeco and Termopilas blue runs, where you traverse to the left. Keep your speed as the interesting part of this line is the middle section ridge....

From the Laguna's chairlift, take the red slope Olimpica - this slope is pretty flat at the beginning and a bit narrow. The best approach is to take as much speed possible to join the black slope Tajo de la virgin....

Take either of the gondolas (both of them bring you to the same place) and as soon as you are at the top turn left, where you will see a lot of ski schools....
