This morning's accomplishment was the "Four by Four" neighborhood, presumably named because it's a nice grid. It was probably the least visually appealing neighborhood I've been in so far—just trash strewn everywhere. I saw one guy picking up the trash in his yard, and tossing it into the street. I guess that's progress at some level. I wonder what motivates that kind of mindset; in my view it's just as much work to throw it into a bag, in which case not just your yard but the neighborhood has been improved, but not everyone shares this view. There must be something else going on.

Also saw a nasty crash in the golf course. People drive too fast.

In between I biked through a weird kind of abandoned food farm. It had real post-apocalyptic vibes: trucks all over, a locked outdoor freezer. But it also had what seemed to be well-tended compost bins. Maybe this is just what (city) farms look like. I'd still like to see less trash everywhere.
