Maybe my most enjoyable run of 2024

I knew I was in good shape and my body was ready to run fast today, but I still needed to execute. As often happens, I felt sleepy and sluggish on my warm up, but I wanted to be aggressive. Last time I ran this course, I was too conservative and missed the CR by about a minute. This year I took out in 5:14 and was probably about a minute faster by the time I was 2 miles in. I ran hard up Live Oak and just kept hammering. I felt strong today and really kept a strong tempo on the climbs; I wanted redemption after my disappointment at Broken Arrow. In the last few miles I knew I had t he course record but I thought I could break 1:20 if I pushed hard enough. I think my last mile was almost as fast as my first. Really happy with this performance and my effort today.
