About 8 weeks being in a calorie deficit everyday, I averaged -8,000cal / week for 2 weeks, then backed it down to -3k to -4k a week for 6 weeks, and will now taper down to -2k to -3k/week now that I’ve shed that fluff. Because I get in proper macros and go over board on protein it never feels like starvation or depletion. My mind wants food, but my body is nourished so it doesn’t physically feel bad. Yes I’m hungry, but I’m not weak and tired.

If I don’t ride, I can only eat 2,000cal in the day, that’s a fukin no for me dog. Most days I will burn around 1,000-1,500cal above maintenance, meaning I can eat 3,000-3,500 a day. 

I like to eat big meals so I do 1,000-1,500cal for breakfast, around 0-500cal on training rides (races and adventures are different in that I shoot for 100g of carbs n hour for those), then I eat 1,200 - 1,600cal for dinner. 

Macro wise I haven’t gone a single day under 200g of protein on this “cut” and probably have less than 5 days under 200g of protein in the past 3 years. 

This leaves zero room for treats tho, so if I want like… bread 😂 I need to ride pretty big. Today I rode strong for 4:30hr, feeling good the whole time even though I only took in 4 rice cakes and a protein bar + electrolytes in my water. Then lifted for 30min and had a -3,300cal deficit going into dinner. (Fuk yeah the brain says) 

So a mushroom root “chicken” sandwich, a BBQ mushroom root burger, some broccolini, homemade sweet potato fries which I kinda burned, still learning sweet potatoes, they are hard to cook right, and a strawberry milk shake with real strawberries, strawberry sorbet, and pea milk. (Change your name pea milk, it sounds gross) 

I loved it, and by bed time I’ll end up being around a -500cal deficit even with an EPIC breakfast and dinner. But is it worth it? I feel psychotic sometimes with how much focus I put into my diet and body. 

I put an insane amount of time and energy into getting my physique looking mid tier. I see the comments about TRT, but no amount of steroids can magically break the law of thermodynamics. (CICO) I honestly rather people think I’m on gas than the truth that I’m virtually working 24/7 to achieve this mid physique. 

People think you can get a 6 pack by doing some sit ups occasionally, but abs are made in the kitchen, and battling endless hunger. I cook 99% of everything I eat, I’ve mastered nutritional dense, volume heavy meals, but to get this lame ass 4 pack takes an INSANE AMOUNT dedication, or at least it does for me. 

That all sounds negative, but because I have a food problem, I find great pride, a sense of accomplishment, and mental peace sticking to this “lifestyle”. Obtaining “abs” at almost 40 is fukin sick! And I feel terrific.
