About 45 minutes north of Flagstaff, Babbit Ranch at 5,600 feet of elevation was the setting for this event. The high for the day was 93 degrees and the course was completely exposed. Some reprieve came in the form of afternoon clouds and an intermittent breeze. 

Despite multiple issues leading up to the event (inadequate training and lower back pain) I was expecting a bigger day than I had. 

Technically a DNF but tied for 6th at 16 laps completed and 66.672 miles. 20 minutes after tapping out I regretted my decision because I wasn’t struggling that much (or maybe I just needed 20 minutes to feel good again). 

In the end I learned a lot and how helpful it would have been to have a crew in this format. Looking forward to trying again. 

It was great meeting Dawn Stone (Greenwalt) and Chris Thornly of Squirrels Nut Butter as well as some of the other runners and a fellow PCT thru-hiker who got the assist
