Dog Lake (Upper Millcreek Dog Lake Big Water Trail)
Hiking Trail
Easy
1.26 mi
53 ft
A moderate climb through shady pine trees ending at a small lake
There are two starting points for the Dog Lake trail at the end of Millcreek Canyon. The two parking lots at the end of the road each have a trail that heads into the woods, they merge after less than half a mile and the trail continues as one. The trail is a 5 mile out and back that gains almost 1,500 feet in elevation. The trail is single track, but very wide in places. This trail is very popular and sees a lot of traffic. For the most part it is free of roots and rocks. The trail uses many long switch backs to gain vertical and work its way up the canyon. There are a few intersections for other trails that offer variations and longer loops, but the Dog Lake trail is well marked and easily navigated. The trail is almost entirely uphill with some flat sections. It reaches a pass and then a very short descent ends at the lake. Bikes are only allowed on even days. Dogs are allowed off leash on odd days. There is a $3 fee required upon exiting the canyon. Written by FATMAP Official
