Wilder Ranch Loop

Mountain Biking Trail

Moderate
11.13 mi
1,505 ft
Fun combo of trails in the hills and canyons of Wilder Ranch State Park.

The rugged coastline at Wilder Ranch is the main attraction for hikers, but the hills and canyons above are the the allure for mountain biking. The web of trails has a lot of variety, including fire roads, singletrack, flow, and technical. Combining a bit of everything, this loop is designed to maximize fun and scenery in Wilder Ranch. It has mostly doubletrack climbs and single track descents.

It begins with a climb through forest and fields, with periodic views over your shoulder to the ocean. Then you’ll dive into the woods for for a series of fast ups and downs on Old Cabin and Eucalyptus Trails. Enchanted Loop comes next, and is a real treat. You’ll swoop through redwoods and pump through creek crossings on sustained singletrack. Climb back up to a rolling, grassy ridgeline and meet with Wilder Ridge fire road. Zane Gray Cutoff leads to rocky downhill then smoother track dipping in and out of forested drainages on open hillsides. Rejoin with Wilder Ridge Loop and ride it out, back to your starting point near the dairy farm.

This loop is only one of many possible combinations, and does not include every worthwhile trail in the park. Feel free to explore and find your own favorite ride. Most trails are signed, but signs don’t always match perfectly with the [official park map]( The compactness of the network and presence of obvious fire roads makes it easy enough to navigate, though.
