Plano's largest park and the perfect destination for anyone in the family to enjoy a hike.

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is one of the best areas to head for relaxing and family-friendly hike in eastern Plano. An excellent alternative to [Arbor Hills]( on the other side of town, Oak Point spans 800 acres and includes 8 miles of paved trails and 5 miles of mellow singletrack. Just a mile and a half total, this hike begins with a bit of paved trail around the north side of a pond, then links Redbud Way to Caddo for a relaxing stroll through the woods alongside Rowlett Creek. This hike begins at the main trailhead off of Los Rios Boulevard. Water, restrooms, and a massive parking area are available, plus the abundance of trail with the park - both paved and unpaved - makes it easy to build upon this loop if you're looking for a longer hike or trail run if that's more your style. Virtually flat, the ease of this hike makes it a great option for anyone in the family, including the dog. Alternatively, another parking area is available off of Spring Creek Parkway on the other side of the park, which may provide easier access depending on where you're coming from. In addition to the paved and unpaved trails, Oak Point includes a zipline and adventure park, event center, picnic pavilions, and a small pond where you could fish, paddleboard, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. While the park is open daily from 5am to 11pm, the trails are only open from sunrise to sunset. [Source]( Written by Brendon Voelker
