Glade Trail Uphill

Backcountry Skiing Route

Details
2.69 mi
1,940 ft
A relaxed ski tour from Government Camp up to Timberline Lodge.

Glade Trail is a low-angle, wide-cut trail through the forest between Government Camp and Timberline Lodge. It’s most popular with snowshoers and cross-country skiers because of the easy gradient, but makes a good ski tour for anyone seeking a long but mellow route. Glade still deals a respectable amount of vertical if you take it all the way––nearly 2000 feet to Timberline––but is safe enough to ski when conditions are unfavorable everywhere else. It’s not groomed, but typically smoothed from heavy use. The pitch is not enough for sustained downhill skiing when the snow is soft, so you’ll want a packed surface if you plan on descending the same way. Begin the trail from the end of Blossom Trail Road in Government Camp. You can drive to the small parking area or walk from the center of town.
