Triftji 33
On exiting the Triftji T-bar or Rote Nase cable car, this run is the main face, opposite the Sunnegga/Rothorn mountain. The convex slope is steep at the top, meaning amazing fresh powder turns if the snow allows....
2
Blauherd 94
Exiting the Blauherd lift, drop in as soon as you can to the left from the Rotweng piste, above Paradise, and follow the open face down one ridge line over from Paradise....
3
Mittelritze 30
There can be little definition down here in bad light, so if that's the case, stick to the pole line down the middle of the run. To access, head down the White Hare (28) down the windy narrow top section as far as the split with the track back to Gornergrat....
4
Grieschumme 32
Passing the Stockhorn button lift, the slope rolls away more steeply than the last section above run 33 or 34 and allows you to choose your line between middle and left (if you drop to the right, there is quite a long traverse to get back to the main pitches)....
5
Paradise 10
On exiting the Blauherd bubble/chair, start down the blue 7 Standard piste. After about 100m drop off to the left and traverse a little onto the pitch. The top section is steep and usually bumpy....
6
Stockhorn 34
On leaving the Stockhorn button lift, follow the button lift line back down. You will have a long open section which is steeper at the top with some pretty large bumps, but always with a pretty good base as you start, which then flattens out gently about half way down....
7
Gornergrat 100
Where the Hohtalli and Gifthilli pistes meet, exit to the right. Follow the open rolling pitches and then steer a little further to the right to avoid landing on top of the gallery....
8
95 Triftji direct
From the bottom of the Triftji t-bar continue on directly along the fall line to roll down the glacial moraine and then traverse left near the bottom (higher if the snow cover is poor) back to Grünsee....
9
Mittelritze
10
Breitboden 96
Exiting the Breitboden chair lift drop directly down into the trees. Be careful with your route choice as if you stay to the right then you hit the Berter black run earlier....
11
Chamois 16
After the top steeper section of the Schneehuhn piste, take the left hand turn on the flat and continue straight, traversing onto the ridge of the mountain. The slope then drops away to the left onto a steeper open face....
12
Hohtalli
13
Marmotte 17
From the Rothorn lift traverse along the right side of the ridge, skiing in the bowls. Gently keep left and head over the ridge before skiing the logical line until you rejoin the Tuffterkumme piste....
14
Grünsee Couloir 97
Leave the White Hare piste to the right about half way down on the flat section. Traverse over to the right on the saddle before dropping down into the main couloir....
15
Monte Rosa Haute Route: Neue Monte Rosa Hut to Zermatt via Dufourspitze Monte Rosa
Monte Rosa is a tough mountain on foot by any approach. Sadly it is the realm of heliskiers too, but nevertheless is an amazing day out. A very early start is needed from the hut, with a shockingly early breakfast and many hours skinning in the dark....
