The north eastern face of Australia's highest peak, Mt Kosciuszko, this lee slope is one of the earliest skiable slopes in Australia.
Heading towards the north east from the summit, this slope is one of the earliest places you can ski in Australia, skiable after the first fall of the season, 20 cm can provide you with some decent turns as early as May. This area is relatively protected from the wind, which enables it to hold the snow far better, and fresh snow can often be blown into this area when the peak itself is scoured. The run itself doesn't hold a huge amount of vertical, with only about 250 metres on offer, but it's gentle grade and early availability makes this a great run, let alone the views out to Lake Albina and The Sentinel. Lapping this area is easy, just skin back up the face to the summit or wherever you find easiest. Written by Omar Elkadi
