An all out sufferfest, Fearsome Foursome is a ride for cyclists that can handle climbing almost 10,000 feet over 60 miles at altitude. Proper hydration is key on this ride, especially in the summer months when temperatures can reach well over ninety degrees. Riders can choose to begin climbing either Flagstaff or Sunshine and then work their way north or south depending on the chosen first climb. On this route, daring individuals will ascend the big four of Boulder: Sunshine Canyon, Sugarloaf Road, Magnolia Road, and Flagstaff Road. Of the 50 miles ridden, 20 of them will be spent climbing. Catching glimpses of the snow-covered Rockies and cruising through canyons, riders should keep an eye out for deer, mountain lions, foxes, rabbits, and turkeys. No doubt, you’ll be cramping upon reaching the top of the final climb. After the concluding descent, a beer is definitely in order.
