A couple of small summits and a variety of flora make this is an excellent running route

Nestled close to downtown Boston and offering exceptional views of it, Arnold Arboretum is a great spot for a run. There's some satisfying - but not overly long - climbs, namely up to Peters Hill and Bussey Hill, and the possible addition for Hemlock Hill for those with the requisite energy.

The arboretum is home to thousands of trees and shrubs, with species originating from all around the world. Expect oaks, pines, maples, and many more. In addition to the purely natural flora, Arnold Arboretum is also home to several curated gardens that showcase different plant collections. The park is also home to sections of meadow and wetland, so there's plenty of fauna to go with the flora!

There is also cultural interest to be found in the park, including the Hunnewell Building and Visitor Center, the Larz Anderson Bonsai Collection, and the Weld Hill Research Building. These buildings and collections offer insights into the arboretum's rich history and ongoing research efforts.

Not many places combine the natural with the urban as well as Arnold Arboretum! Written by Charlie Boscoe
