Scale the tallest peak in Nevada!
Boundary Peak is only ranked as the highest peak in Nevada due to a very fine distinction of the California state border that runs between it and its twin, Montgomery Peak. Montgomery Peak is located just across the border in California and is 200 feet higher. Nevertheless, many people still want to bag the highest summit in Nevada as they check off all 50 state high points. Here's how you get there. Even though Boundary Peak is actually "one of the more remote and unspoiled state high points," according to [PeakBagger]( it's actually an easy, non-technical hike to reach the summit. The only true challenges are the sliding, loose talus and dirt, but most hikers with reasonable fitness will be able to gain the 13,146-foot summit. The White Mountains are the driest range of 14ers in the USA, and the unique climate provides the perfect ecosystem for the oldest trees in the world—ancient bristlecones. While the oldest groves of bristlecones are located further to the south in this mountain range, this hike does pass through a few stunning bristlecone forests.
