A varied tech trail with eroded fall line singletrack and massive rock rolls.
Some riders name Original Sin as one of their favorite tech trails in the bike park, and it’s probably due to this line’s fantastic diversity.
Beginning with rooty singletrack through the woods, the trail drops into steep, washed out fall line singletrack that’s an absolute riot to pin down. Drops, loose rocks, and all manner of gnar keep you fully engaged as you drop down this chute of a trail.
After crossing an access road, the trail gains a scenic ridge, traversing along the top of a series of rock slabs—a rarity in the Whistler Bike Park.
Soon, the rock slabs get bigger and bigger until the trail plummets off the ridge down a series of formidable rock slab rolls. The main, exposed slab drops into a burly section of singletrack with a few smaller rolls, finishing with a shorter but gnarlier rock feature before ending on another ski run. Rated as a single black diamond, the rock slabs found on Original Sin are no joke, but they aren’t quite as death-defying as the slabs on the double black diamonds in the Fitzsimmons Zone.
Taken together, the immense variety on this tech line combines to create an engaging run that you’ll have to hit at least a few times! Written by Greg Heil
