A mellow hike with stunning views!
If you’re looking for a mellow hike, it doesn’t get much easier than this! This quick loop through Ebey’s Landing State Park traverses the top of a bluff overlooking the water and then returns directly along the shore. With just 207 feet of elevation gain over the course of 3.6 miles, the entire family can enjoy this beautiful adventure on Whidbey Island.
Despite being such a short, easy hike, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views! "While wandering across a wild stretch of beach, look for migratory seabirds and views of the Olympic Mountains,” advises Megan Michelson of [_Outside Magazine_](
In addition to being a state park, this hike is located in a national historic preserve. Along with the obvious views of the sea, as you stroll through the prairie land, be sure to check out the restored homesteads from a time long gone.
The 3.6-mile route mapped here can be extended if you so desire. To extend the hike, head to the northeast on Ebey’s Prairie Ridge Trail. You can then add on the Pratt Loop Trail and the Kettles Spur Trail for even more bonus mileage. Finally, from the northwest end of the loop, you can also continue up the shoreline on the long-distance Pacific Northwest Scenic Trail.
