A great taste of Butte County's scenic roads. This route is 90% pavement. It includes nearly 5 miles of gravel on the climb of Centerville. Most riders opt to ride this on a road bike because the gravel is relatively smooth and can be ridden on tires as narrow as 25mm. The descents on this route are all paved.
- Start at Performance Bike Chico.
- Make your way to the 20th Street Bike Path
- Head up Honey Run to Centerville.
- From miles 13-17.8 Centerville is a gravel road
- Follow Nimshew/Humbug/Skyway to Lovelock
- Descend Coutolenc
- Use Paradise bike path to avoid major roads
- Descend Neal Rd (a long gradual descent)
- After crossing Highway 99, turn right on Oro-Chico Hwy
-Use bike path along Midway to return to Chico
Water available at Centerville Museum (mile 11.5) and Paradise Community Park (mile 35). Paradise Lake also has water (a short detour from the route)
Riders seeking to cut the route short can continue on Nimshew Road to Skyway (don't turn left on Humbug) and head towards Magalia. Skyway has more traffic than other roads on this route but is still suitable for cycling.
