Starting at Annadel State Park, this route takes riders through wine country and up some seriously challenging cols. Riders begin pedaling alongside wineries on the Sonoma Highway, a perfect chance to warm up before turning onto Trinity Road. A picturesque road enshrouded by trees, Trinity Grade averages 8% and will have your legs burning! From there, you'll pass through St. Helena and into the hills. Levi Leipheimer is the current KOM on Spring Mountain Road, a brutal ascent that is over 13% in certain sections. The road sure is beautiful though, and more than makes up for the pain. Both scenic and challenging, the Wine Country Loop shouldn't be passed up. Of course, you can finish your ride with a celebratory glass of wine!
