Gait Happens - Fit Feet Program Week 8 / Day 2

Being the race starts at 6000ft and goes to 8900 and I live at 750ft or so I decided to take the climbs easy - well as easy as one could as there were some good ones.  Wahoo has a way of calling out climbs and one of them was a 5.5 or so cllimb for about 950ft Elev and all on failry chunky gravel and between 1% and up to 9-10%.

The race said the elevation was 10440 but I got 8900 and the guy I finished with was over 9000.  Most of the elevation was in the first 69 miles so made for a slow first part of the ride.

By the way in the finish line picture I am not sprinting and throwing my bike:). I was just going over the timing mat so I guess I just wanted to control the front end.

We had almost everything as had cool temps in the mtns, rain and thunder and lightening - thankfully no snow.  Did get pretty messy and my bike is a mess.  Started out dry and dust and still that way in some places so by end of the ride drive train was no happy.

Got 190 OA out of 219 finishers as there were 30 dnf's. Got 5th in the 60+ AG but was about 50 minutes from third Not a big field for the long race but as it started at 9AM and had a lot of climbing and not fast climbing at that  - well for us mortals - I think more opted for the shorter 70+ miler which had 256 finishers.

Overall a good ride but altitude is not form me right now and still not feeling quite right after my ER visit when I got sick.  Need to think about the Gravel Revival as I signed up for the 100 but may go down to the 65.
