Many high value (and highly contraband) local goods were smuggled across two difficult intergalactic sectors back to Banditland, yet no one was sucked into the black hole of descending the ominous Black Mountain after dark! Fantastic weather and the perfect group to test scaling this thing up from 2 riders last year to 20 starters this year (12 made the full crossing). Congratulations to Charlie Heggem for being the best smuggler in the Maple Falls galaxy and taking home the Millenium Falcon! Josephine Hegeberg took the top honors in the women's category and wins the best co-pilot award. Together, they will set the conditions for winning the prize next year. Go hit this route up while the going is good, and check back for 2024 improvements! At minimum, I will be making a few tweaks to the start for a better warmup (see my Sunday scouting ride) plus making Silver Lake Park group camp the start.
