Also, in response to various comments, here are the FAQs:

-- WHY? Curiosity, pig-headedness, never-ending mid-life crisis,... (Other answers have been suggested in the comments).

-- WHY INDOORS? Because I'm a wimp. Outdoors is MUCH  harder and I'm genuinely in awe of anybody who ever completed the real thing, meaning PBP (Hi Nick Mandoki !) or LEL which is even further (Hi Allan Jarvis  !).

-- HOW REAL IS ROUVY? The speed is a bit too fast (even if you assume you're riding on Swiss-style super-smooth roads); there's obviously no weather; food/drinks/shower are within reach any time you fancy some;... However, the Watts and time are real. But just to be absolutely clear again, it's not the same and it's not supposed to be!

-- DON'T YOU GET BORED? It was only about 11 hours per day; there's (mainly!) beautiful landscape to ride through; the TdF was on the second ipad (and I sometimes got confused, getting out of the saddle to tackle an incline that was on the wrong screen...); and there are plenty of 2-3 hour videos on YouTube. Here's one I discovered during the ride:
