Sweeping 🧹 UTMR 🏔🔄 2024: Stage 1

UTMR Day 0: Non-running stuff 👨‍🍳

A bit earlier start and soon the sun ☀️ shined over us. First climb to Pic de Maià 🏔 quite easy and then quite a long traverse ➡️ with one little portage section.

First downhill started a bit tough, middle part was easier and the end when arriving to the forest again tough. The end was again spme 5 min walking due to deep forest 🌲🌲🌲 and lack of snow.

Then we made it to Vall Incles were we can eat and get energy ⚡️. From here a long valley up to Clot Sord 🏔. Ghe uphill was very beautiful .

Another tough down ⬇️⬇️⬇️ and quads were already 😭.

But no alternative than keep going. Another big up, the longest of the day with 800m ⬆️ at once, to then make it to a pass; Collada de Meners... to then again go to Refugi de Sorteny 🏠. Last part a bit challenging with some deep of the skis on the river to cross them
In the aid station at Refugi de Sorteny there was  great food 😋, including tortilla 👨‍🍳. We got some energy and kept going!

From here a short up to Planell de Quer and a challenging steep downhill in dense forest 🌲🌲🌲. Finally down (yes, it weird thay we celebrate finishing the downhills 😅).

And now time for the last "real uphill". Another almost 600m ⬆️ following all the valley to make it to Portella de Rialb. We could not see the end... it was endless.

The first part of the downhill I must said it was great...but on tired legs 🥵 do not feel that great 🤷‍♂️. The end gets into the river gorge and forest and there is no room for error if you don't want to fall in cold water river... Last meters on grass, some rocks and slushy snow.

And to finish a 160m ⬆️ to make it to Arcalís. Good present 🎁 for the end 💥.

Again today, excelent organization from breefing to staff all alomg the way to successfully finish a 9h on skis ⛷️. Comleted the 2 days with 70 kms and 5000m ⬆️.
