An afternoon run following the family doggy hike in the woods. The first two-thirds were on the trails across the hills and by the creek. It was a cherished solitude except for two encounters of a deer kind.

While running on this path I nearly stepped on a deer. She stood up, made two steps away then looked back at me. We eyed each other from five meters for almost a minute. Then I walked away as she stood there some more.

Next, when I reached the open meadow there was another deer grazing some 40 meters away. Again, I stopped instantly while she looked at me, realized I was no danger to her, then grazed further. 

Lovely.

Sorry, no phone, and no photos. The ones that accompany this report were taken a couple of weeks earlier on the same path.
