«Where do I begin to tell the great story (…)» sang Shirley Bassey with the Away Team. I don't know where to start neither.
Perhaps by talking about riding in the night. I didn't like it : my two only experiences was in the rain 8 years ago and a few weeks from now for 4 hours. Nothing special. But here, I discovered a new way of cycling, a way where you are alert, sensitive about everything : the perfumes, the smells, the light, the strange noises and yourself, alone, totally alone in this dark greatness. And the fantomatic mist.
We often talk about sunset. But it's not the sun that comes first, it's the light. And it comes at 4am ! At the same time, the full moon was going away to sleep. And you could see both for a long time. And then, the first sun beam appears along with a temparture drop down. But, oh boy, all that I saw during those magical moments. Arthur Rimbaud must have been someone of the late and fading night to see all those incredible images and sensations he described in his poems.
The climbs... they were beautiful in the pennines AND so brutal. Like mini-Ventoux that came by three in a row. They were never ending in Yorkshire... so much that at the end, the final day I couldn't bear nor look at them anymore.
It's a "tarte à la crème" but I have to say it : physically, I copped with this beautiful route, but mentally, it was hard, very hard. Especially when my plan A, B and C crashed at the same time on day 2. I had to enter in another kind of projection. A day by day, stage by stage one. Couldn't say what day I was, just how many stages was left. The sleep deprivation helped with this sense of being out of time.
I still can't believe I manage to do 1545 km 4 hours before the cut-off. But I did.
Thanks for all those that cheered me up : it meant sooooo much for me. 
I'm already in a nostalgia mode...
