Myself and two Lead Out Project teammates extended our road season on a whim and headed to the 5th annual Drayton Valley gran fondo/race, or the DV100 as it's commonly referred to. The route was essentially one big loop with amazing road surface conditions, undulating hills, favorable winds and one decisive climb just before the midway point. My teammate and recently crowned provincial ITT champ went solo 10km into the race, forcing some of the other big hitters to do a fair share of work on the front to limit his gap. When we hit the one big climb on the course things blew apart and I found myself with both my teammates in a 5-man leading group that would go on to contest the win. With great work by all involved the break we were able to smash the course record by 10 minutes and L.O.P. secured 1st and 3rd spot on the podium in a hard fought 3-up srint to the line that saw CX pro Michael Van Den Ham taking 2nd spot. Great way to wrap the road season up, for the second time this year ha!
