Ate and slept well last night.

After ending a well-intended classic outing at Tech Trails after about 3 km (thanks to the valuable info from Christine, Shannon and Rob), Steph and I headed to Copper Harbor to explore the End of The Road trails.

I knew from chatting with the groomer that trails weren't groomed in quite some time and that land including the trails as well as their surroundings were public. We weren't quite ready for the mostly rugged and rutted Mandan Road, Horseshoe Harbor Road and East Bluff Drive. There were a few minutes of sublime crust skiing though - between Horseshoe Harbor and Mandan Road as well as the final 800-ish meters of the East Bluff ascent. Descent along East Bluff drive, with aforementioned refrozen snowmobile ruts, was dangerous enough that we needed take our skis off and walk few segments.

I fell a handful of times while navigating the said ruts. The sounds and sights of Lake Superior were quite spectacular. If not for practices of gratitude and Steph's presence, there was a good chance I'd have turned around before reaching the East Bluff peak. As she noted, the outing was mostly Type II fun and completing it played a big part completing a personal project. Good conversations. Good outing.
