Lots of climbing with Andy, but at a slow pace. (All the PRs at the end are because the only other time I did that direction was one of my first rides 18 months ago... this ride:  ).



Fitness is still low after a month off. To improve form, I tried to do climbs 100% in the saddle, except when the  grade got over about 14%, which it did a few times.



It was my first time to do Kasatori West, 2nd time to do East and North, and Third time to do South.



With the slow pace I was feeling fine....  until "Kasatori East Village", with long sections above 20%, which utterly did me in. I did it faster than last time by about 30 seconds, but felt much worse than I should have. The worst were my biceps, from pulling against the handlebars to get enough power through the pedal to keep from falling over.

It took a long time to recover. (Sorry to keep you waiting, Andy.)



Sweets and coffee at 茶丈藤村（Sajo Towson, run by cyclist Maria Tokunaga) helped prepare me for the 5+ climbs on the return trip.



I was really looking forward to letting it lose on "Nagasaka West Descent", but a heavy rain had left it wet and scary as hell. Took it carefully, but still had some pucker moments.



I'm mostly liking my new Garmin 820, but it's hard to work with the map to find a place to route to. (Once the route is set up, it's great). I got confused by it and thinking I was being directed one place I ended up on "Ogurisu Bamboo Climb", which is not for the faint of heart, especially on a road bike. (The segment is fully paved, but the road surface is horrible.)
