As expected, running a half-marathon immediately after swimming 2000+ yards and biking 56+ miles is hard. I had a great pace to start but couldn't sustain it. The weather was alternating between overcast and sunny, and when the sun was out it was enough to zap some energy... could have been a lot worse though.
I'd done pretty well on nutrition through the bike, and for about the first 6-7 miles did pretty well getting a quantum bar and a fig bar down, but then I was thirsty but fighting against sloshing in my stomach... I managed to get a gu down around mile 8-9, and that was the end of nutrition beyond sips of water.
Blisters managed to keep at bay, although there was a moment around mile 6 that I started getting worried. I think that walking briefly every 1-1.5 miles helped here - just getting out of the normal repetitive motion, allowing my socks to shift around differently, and giving a few seconds for any friction heat to dissipate helps. Also, I stuck to the gravel part of the trail as much as possible - in addition to being the inside track of Greenlake so a little shorter, it was definitely easier on my feet.
