What a blast. Massive thanks to everybody who made this possible (and for your kind comments below). Special thanks to:

-- Lauren Wolff for somehow (can't quite remember how...) instigating this.

-- "ghostbiker" for recording the route (in 14 separate stages) and to Bernd Eller (# ridewithoutstomach) for knitting the stages together to this monster.

-- Everybody who joined the party, for all or part of it. Special thanks to those who came back for a second helping and supported me through that last bit... Having some friendly faces on zoom made a huge difference!

-- My wife, Shanthi, for her amazing (and by now tried-and-tested) mushroom risotto which was augmented by cans of rice pudding, dates and Lidl's "Streuselkuchen"!

-- To all of you who made a donation to Medecins Sans Frontieres' Yemen campaign. If you haven't yet, they'll still be delighted to take your cash:
 
          

Finally, the screenshots show that Rouvy have disqualified Kjell Petter Bøgwald and "lovetoride". This is completely ridiculous and almost certainly a (hopefully reversible) bug. Kjell Petter is a superb rider, and if you inspect his stats at https://www.strava.com/activities/5303526024/analysis you'll see that his effort was 100% genuine. I really hope that Rouvy will revert this -- he came first and deserves be listed as such. I don't know "lovetoride", so can't find her records on strava but have no doubt that she was penalised by that same bug. She was still going strong when I finished.

What next? Sleep! And then it'll be Monday again. Fake commute, anybody?
