A new tarmaced bike road / path has just opened to the top of the Col de la Loze from Meribel.  Very tough climb with a number of ramps of 20% and over, and an average gradient over the last 5k of about 11 - 12%.  It features in this year's Tour de l"Avenir in August, and is a shoo-in for the TdF next year I reckon
