Weather was _exactly_ as the meteorologist said, down to the minute: snow/rain stopped at 9am. That means two hours of a healthy soaking, which set me up for a struggle to get to my planned stop at 2/3rds of the way through the route (at Taco Time). 20 minutes of eating, drinking, and rubbing my feet together vigorously the whole time had me more optimistic. But still, as I was shoving off from Poulsbo, I was pretty convinced I was going to be bee-lining back to the ferry. But as I crossed the Agate Bridge (Karl, achievement unlocked: I biked the full length of the bridge without a single car being in my lane), I decided to go one hill at a time, and then to call it if any hill beat me up too much. Being that came back on the island with only 25mi left, some mental trickery worked great to shave off the miles without my body even noticing.

Toe Jam was as fun of a detour as ever.
