How am I supposed to taper when there are such sick trails around?

-200 feet to 11k and back down again. One of the biggest climbs possible in the continental US. Beat the 10 year old FKT by about 11 minutes. 7:39:09. That might have been the hardest thing I have ever done, I can see why the old time lasted so long. Pushed real deep the last hour. Got a little excited starting the dirt road section on the way down and almost paid for it, nearly collapsing at one point.
