Day 21 - so close one more short ride tomorrow

Day 20 - goodbye Mississippi River, hello neighbor Mississippi!

Day 19 - good night riding to Cape Girardeau and then decently quiet riding to Kennett

Day 18 - short day before the heat, gateway arch at sunrise, avoided most of St. Louis traffic but still wayyyy more cars than past few days

Since I don't have a car and Kristine is out of town with our other car, I needed to bike down to Montevallo to get J's car to take George to the vet. George got himself stuck inside a stuffed animal while I was at work on Thursday. When I came home and fed the rabbits, I coudn't find George. I spent an hour searching and eventually as I was moving things around I picked up a stuffed animal that was unusually heavy and something squirmed inside it - George! He had twisted the outer covering around his leg and pulled it very, very tight around his leg. I had to cut him out and then even after doing that took another awkward few minutes trying to figure out how to get the knot out of the covering tightly constricting his leg.  Good news from the vet the next morning was that nothing was dislocated and no bones were broken. His right leg had swollen to twice the size of the other leg, though, because of the constriction. Inflammatories and pain meds and he should hopefully be back to his normal self soon. He is still eating and drinking at least a little bit, which is also a danger with rabbits. They have to eat and drink constantly ... just a few hours without food and their stomach which produces so much digestive fluid that then starts to cause gas which causes them to want to eat even less. Natural rabbits don't have to worry about this b/c they are eaten by practically everything and rarely make it to two years old.
