The last day of our journey from Mende to Bordeaux was the best on a number of fronts: the best weather overall, the most photogenic and by far and away the best place for a stop along the way for a break and a feed. The title of the ride is somewhat incorrect in that the Lot joined the Garonne yesterday - and we didn’t ride alongside the river for about half of today’s ride. But we made very nice time until we came into Bordeaux whereupon a significant amount of roadworks disrupted what had been a pretty straightforward journey. Oh yes - except for where we were faithfully following the route alongside the river which took us onto a track more suitable to a VTT bike than what we’re riding. (A bit of a detour solved that problem.) After dodging and weaving around the roadworks we eventually found our accommodation - which also looks better than anything else we’ve had while on this journey - and have had a BIG beer each.  And so concludes what I have say was a nicely conceived and reasonably well-executed tour, especially as we didn’t have the capacity to vet any route anomalies not discoverable from remote mapping alone. Many thanks to my long-suffering life partner for being prepared to come along for the ride and put up with my foibles. 😘
