Stopped by the post office to mail a long overdue letter. As most of my letters are.

In Google photos of the nearby general store, I spot homemade baked goods on a table. Decide to check it out. 

The local police cruiser is parked outside. Inside the woman running the cash register is making lunch for the cop and a couple of locals. It’s that kind of store: pseudo diner, one of every basic grocery item, several fishing floats and bobs, lottery tickets. And what I’m looking for: homemade banana bread with a bonus find of homemade jam. 

On the way back, I pass the local inn. They have a taproom that’s closed, a light up “pizza” sign that’s off, a sign for ice cream around back that may or may not be an active venture. A flag on the front porch says “Bluegrass 2nd Friday”. Maybe that’s when this place comes alive. I note to come back in a couple of days.
