Awesome race. The course was great and I felt really good throughout the entire race. It was a a good mix of cross country style trails with some rather steep short climbs and some section of really cool and technical single track. I went out in 5th behind Joe, Sigl, Hawks and Grumsfield and pretty much stayed there. Early on I was able to keep 3rd and 4th within my sights. They slowly pulled away and then at mile 7 we entered the single track for a couple miles and I got a glimpse of Hayden and tried reeling him in. The last 3 miles I just started cranking it out and just went for it. I was closing the gap on 4th but came up 5 seconds shy. Still a great effort. I competed and felt great doing it. It's a real confidence builder being able to rub elbows with this caliber of field up front. It wasn't the deepest field for a championship race but none the less I stuck my noise up there and fought.
