Slovakia Divide is done ✅ My final mileage was 672 kilometres and 15 thousand vertical meters. I made it to the finish in 60 hours and 50 minutes and I grabbed second place 🥈 To achieve this I slept only 10 minutes (don’t try this at home, I’m a skilled professional 😉) The route wasn’t easy as it was traversing famous hiking trails in central Slovakia. It made me swear several times.

It’s great that the Slovakia Divide doesn’t promote fear of bears. I was in Slovakia mountains for two nights (and three days) and the biggest danger I felt was in descent and being chased by dogs. Bear is not an animal that specializes in attacking tourists. They want to eat their berries and don’t care about us. To avoid surprising them I had a strong bell. And in case of an absolute emergency, I had a bear spray.

I had several issues during the race but nothing serious that I would spend hours fixing. My favourite part was the east section where there is still a big minority of Rusyns and it’s a different world.

Slovakia Divide is only a prequel to a much bigger adventure. I was not ready for it this year but some riders continue further as part of the @carpathianmountainrace to Romania. They don’t need only the power in the legs. They need a big bag of courage. Good luck and safe ride to all of them 🍀
