Pretentious? Yes. BUT there’s a men’s FKT from 2021, so at least we didn’t make this up 🤷🏽‍♀️ Plus it’s one of Switzerland’s most popular/famous trails, even if it was made for the layman.

Credit to Rami for noticing the route had available FKTs. Was *very* tempted to go for the women’s FKT. This route has great speed potential. But Rami really wanted to go for the team FKT. And you cannot submit a single attempt for two categories. FKT rules also require team members to start and end at the same time. So last minute I decided to slow my roll and take one for the team. 

We had a blast! No regrets for choosing a fun shared memory over stats. That’s what I like about adventure. You gamify things for sure, but traditional stats go out the window.

With about 10K left and the last big climb of ~1200 feet starting, I tried to convince Rami to go for 4h 30m. That was a no 😁 We settled on 5 hours. In last 1.5 miles Rami decided it wasn’t going to happen, so I sent it as hard as I could to see how fast I could go to make up time with barely 10 minutes on the clock. Gnats were intense - in the eyes, up my nose, sticking to the back of my throat. My GPS was misfiring in the tree/hill cover. Hesitated at a couple forks but hoped for the best. Made it to a stopping point near the end at just over 5 hours. Then chilled waiting for Rami, so we could finish at the same time. Total elapsed time for team FKT was 5:08:15. 

Overall, super scenic despite heavily overcast skies and low clouds covering highest mountains all day. Only a sprinkle of rain. One tiny section of headwind. 80 degrees and humid AF! Soaked clothing pretty much from the start. 

Hard to keep the camera lens from being foggy and blurry given sweat/humidity situation but did lots of picture/video taking while lollygagging - running ahead and waiting, staying behind then catching up. Just going with the vibes. The perfect kickoff for this trip 😊

PS - route officially has 5200 feet of elevation. Definitely felt like it was all there! Garmin jipped us 😤 

Also took a *ton* more pics and video but too lazy to sift through and find the best. This is mostly stuff I already posted on IG.
