Another tough tough race. Absolutely beautiful though. From the gun it's just an unrelenting course, no time to rest. I really didn't have any idea what to expect and my expectations were to just feel good going into the end of the tree line at mile 10ish, I thought I could be around 2:30-2:45 but again I didn't have a lot to base these predictions off of. I knew I'd be happy with a sub 3 hour run, and maybe a top 20. 

I went out in the top 15 and got in with the chase pack that formed. After the mile we hit the switchbacks and things strung out a bit. The first 2 miles my chest cavity was a bit tight but by mile 3 I finally found a decent rhythm. I kept it nice and comfortable up to Barr Camp and went through roughly the halfway point in 1:11 ish so I thought I'd be on pace for decent finishing time in my goal range, but I kinda knew the last few miles would slow things down. Between mile 9-10 I kinda of hit a low point and got nervous. At this point there were a handful of runners I was playing yoyo with. By mile 10 we were spit out into the rocky face of death we had to climb. The last 3 miles were really tough and I started mixing in some power hiking towards the end but for the most part I was able to keep a "running" pace towards the top. The last 1/2 mile there were a series of 10 steep switchback that were rough. Overall unbelievable challenge, I'm glad I ran this event, will have to come back in a couple years.
