The rain has been swiftly dispatching my electronics -- first it was the bluetooth earbuds, then the headphone adapter, then the power bank. This was not conducive to making it to Cetinje with Strava running on my aging Pixel 3.

As on my previous trips to Montenegro, the spectacular mountain scenery started as soon as I crossed the border. And so did the climbs. I would've had the road all to myself, but a village en route was hosting its annual chestnut festival, which brought hundreds of Albanians into town. They were handing out free sandwiches that each included four small, bony fish. A man who grew up in the village, but had spent the last five decades on Staten Island, showed me around and explained the local customs.
